Though now physically far away, Gene remains close to all of our hearts and minds. Below is an email we received from Gene today relating his latest adventures:
“Hello Harriman Hikers,
This is your Founding Father speaking. Although it is still winter up here, I started my 2007 hiking season in the mountains and thought you might be interested in a few pictures. The first 3 are just a few hours old as I write.
Richard, you would be in heaven.
To the top left of pictures #1 and #2 are Boot Spur Mountain, next to it the Tuckerman Ravine, then the Lion Head right next to it. Mt. Washington is obscured by clouds as usual. To the right top is the Huntington Ravine and below is the Pinkham Notch and the AMC Visitor Center. Square Ledge is to the right in picture #1. Picture 3: Harriman State Park was never like this! The view is also from the Square Ledge, but taken at full zoom. To the top left is the Lion Head again and top center is Mt. Washington obscured by clouds. The fourth is a view of the Crawford Notch still in its winter dressing from Mt. Willard (Doug and Elizabeth: you were there!).
