It’s a sure sign that summer is here when the blueberries are ripe! Ask any Harriman Hiker and they will tell you the joys of many July / August summer hikes include wild blueberries! Right now, end of July 2008, seems to be peak season this year.

Turkey Hill Pond is a 58 acre, man-made “pond” in the far-northern section of Harriman State Park, NY.
The Harriman Hikers were recently at Pine Meadow Lake in Harriman State Park, NY on one of our Sunday Hikes on a glorious Spring day!
It’s that time of year again when the lakes thaw, the songbirds return, the forests and fields burst forth in greens and blooms and the air will be filled with the scent of budding trees and flowers - it’s getting warm enough now to draw out even the most timid housebound winter hibernators - don’t get left behind!

Lake Skanati in Harriman State Park, NY is one of the Seven Lakes for which the main park thoroughfare, Seven Lakes Drive is named.
Green Pond is a pristine mountain pond in the northern part of Harriman State Park, about a 45 minute hike in from the Elk Pens. Note the beaver lodge on the right. The top photo was taken in the Winter and featured on our homepage; the lower photo was taken in the Summer.
From this vantage point a short distance from the Lake Skannatati parking lot, one can observe three picturesque lakes located in Harriman State Park, NY; (front to back): Lake Skannatati, Lake Kanawaukee and Lake Sebago.
